The diagnostic kit can help diagnose the disease

A testing kit created by a Scottish company to give early indications of rheumatoid arthritis has been given approval for sale in the US.

The diagnostic tool made by Dundee-based Axis-Shield is seen as being important in spotting the condition before symptoms are obvious.

On Friday, it announced approval by the US Food and Drug Administration.

This is likely to be taken as a positive signal by other medical product regulators.
